We are constantly striving to improve and build upon the services we offer and develop. The Resource Centre combines an activity-based area with a quieter multi-sensory room, available to all service users. This enables us to offer an additional resource that provides individuals with tailored day time activities which are structured to provide a wide range of craft, hobbies and practical skills development which compliment community-based resources.
The Resource Centre also introduces an important ingredient in the continuing personal development of our service users at Whitwood Care. An integral part of the building is the activity room where service users can develop cognitive and manual skills.
In the multi-sensory room we combine interactive use of textures, light and movement to develop coordination and sensory skills, encouraging an understanding of the relationship between touch, sight and hearing.

The Resource Centre also serves as an excellent sensory facility to provide service users with visual, tactile and olfactory stimulation. With additional input from professionals, such as speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, individually structured care is developed with the person to provide meaningful experiences.
Activities within the Resource Centre are structured to suit individual and group needs, with a strong emphasis on developing practical skills towards increasing independence; including the successful introduction to work experience through suitable placements.
