Whitwood Care

Whitwood Care is a specialist organisation that offers residential facilities and specialist assistance for service users with learning disabilities who display extreme challenging behaviours. We provide a high standard of support in a homely environment, incorporating individual programmes of care and support aimed at reducing negative behaviour and developing independence and integration within the local community. In addition, we are currently in the process of developing a Supported Living service as part of a Progression Pathway.

We currently operate three residential services for adults with varying strengths and needs, with a choice of accommodation that includes individual self contained apartments.

Whitwood House was opened in 1996, followed by Whitwood Hall in March 2000 after extensive refurbishment; and Whitwood Grange in 2006.

Our services provide high quality care for individuals who challenge ordinary service provision.

Service Director’s Vision
Debbie Nutt is Whitwood Care’s Services Director. As a learning disabilities nurse, Debbie has over 30 years experience of working with individuals with specialist and complex needs, including those individuals with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health needs, ABI, and ASC. She has worked in the full range of service provisions across all sectors. Working at Senior Management level Debbie has developed significant clinical knowledge and business-development experience together with a proven track record of working in partnership with Commissioners to advance high quality services. Debbie’s vision will build even further on Whitwood Care’s successes by enhancing the quality of its service provisions to individuals with Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviour. This vision is already being realised by expanding the choice of residential services available to individuals and Commissioners by providing domiciliary services, support living services, emergency placements and short term assessment stays including respite.

"We have found Whitwood to be a 'can do' organisation with a very personal touch, whose staff are friendly, co-operative and determined to ensure placements work. We would have no reservations about using their service again."
